Hi, I’m Michael with Houston Grass, and today we’re talking about some of our products. In particular, I would like to talk about the Nitro Phos Barricade Pre-Emergent. What Pre-Emergent does is it creates a barrier in the soil that prevents weeds from ever coming up. It doesn’t actually kill weeds. You apply this product three times a year in our part of the world here, which keeps many of the weeds from ever germinating.
As I mentioned, it creates a barrier across the soil, and you apply it three times a year. Around here, that is usually in February. We’ll put the official schedule up here shortly, but it’s February, May, and then in the fall, around the same time you would apply your Fall Special Fertilizer, typically in October or November.
This bag treats 5,000 square feet. There are directions on the back of the bag detailing how to apply it, depending on the type of spreader you have, among other factors. It does a good job. Again, it doesn’t kill weeds and it doesn’t prevent all weeds, but it does a good job of keeping away many of the weeds that we contend with here in the Houston area.
