Nitro-Phos Weed & Feed with Trimec is for Zoysia, Bermuda & St. Augustine Grasses

Hi, I’m Michael with Houston Grass. Today, I would like to talk about some of our fertilizers in particular. In this video, I will focus on the spring fertilizer, the Nitro-Phos Weed and Feed with 15-5-10, which uses Trimec as its active ingredient instead of Atrazine. You should apply this fertilizer from mid-February to mid-March in the Houston area.

Be sure to follow the directions on the back of the bag. Depending on the spreader you have, the bag will indicate the correct setting to use. The instructions recommend allowing the grass to grow a little taller before application. Avoid applying it to a freshly mowed yard because you want the active ingredient, Trimec, to be effective. Apply it when the grass is damp, either from dew or a recent rain.

After application, let it dry and adhere to the leaves for a couple of days. This process ensures that Trimec effectively kills clovers, broadleaf weeds, and other undesired plants. A few days later, water the lawn to activate the fertilizer.

The bag covers about eight to ten thousand square feet. If you have any questions, please feel free to give us a call at 281-431-7441.

Cobalt St. Augustine will be available again in the spring.
